FMVSS No. 108 specifies the marking requirements for replaceable light sources as shown:

 

Light Source Marking Requirements

  • The replaceable light source shall be marked with the bulb marking designation specified for it in part 564.  For an HB Type light source, the marking shall be on the light source base.

  • The replaceable light source shall be marked with the symbol DOT and the [manufacturers] name or trademark in accordance with paragraph S7.2.
